Watch how Providence
Plan savings adds up for this sample family of four:
Mom and Dad
have two children; a daughter age 17 and a son, age 12. Dad has insurance
benefits that cover doctors' visits and hospitalization, but they do not cover
prescription drugs, dental care or glasses. Mom's dependent insurance coverage
through her work is too expensive, and still doesn't provide coverage for dental,
or vision. The annual cap on prescription insurance coverage for her own medications
is $250. After that, she is responsible for the total cost of her prescriptions.
Here's how this family takes advantage of their Providence Plan savings: Dad:
Dad was just diagnosed with type 2, non-insulin dependent diabetes. He is
determined to make important lifestyle changes so he can continue to enjoy his
children, and eventually, his grandchildren. He takes 5 mg of glyburide daily
to reduce his blood glucose levels. In addition, Dad wears corrective eye glasses.
Last week, Dad was sipping a Coke and chewing the ice in his glass. CRACK. He
broke the back corner off a molar. Mom:
Mom has had back pain since her son was born. She takes 1 mg of Lorazepam which
reduces anxiety that may also contribute to her back pain. She is looking for
an alternative that may provide her with relief without medication, but her insurance
limits reimbursement for chiropractic expenses. She is also interested in looking
into alternative therapies. (Mom is now wearing trifocals.) Son:
Son has been wearing glasses since age eight. He is involved in several sports
and could use sports goggles with corrective lens. Daughter:
Daughter also requires vision correction with single vision glasses. Dad,
Mom and the kids all see the dentist regularly. (The jury is still out as to whether
Son will need braces. Not to worry. Providence Plan members save on orthodontia
too.)
